Class Description

Join local book and paper artist Carol Norby for a special introductory collage workshop at Starfangled Press!

This workshop will approach the art of collage by thinking of paper the same way we think of paint, pencil, chalk, or similar media. As in all good art, this allows us to focus on the core principles of good design and composition with a fluid arrangement. The possibilities become endless.

While we work we will learn a brief but fascinating history of collage and its many varied styles and artists. These styles and designs will reveal a myriad of choices of materials, tools, and schools of thought that will enhance any and all media that you currently favor.

During our time together we will experience textures, shapes, and color; while choosing simple tearing or precise use of scissors and/or craft knives. We will learn about substrates, gluing, and finishes - bringing it all together in a satisfying effort of fun and the joy of practicing a time-honored art together.

What You Need To Bring

A pair of sharp scissors

Glue Stick

Extra Paper Ephemera ( magazines, colored paper, dry used tea bags, etc..)

Water | Lunch | Snacks
