22 June 2018 - 23 July 2018[Heading 3]
OPENING RECEPTION Friday, 22 June 2018, 5 - 8 pm [Heading 3]
Laura Baisden designed and printed posters at Hatch Show Print in Nashville for five years. In 2015, she started her own letterpress company in Knoxville, Tennessee. In addition to making custom posters and invitations, she creates art of her own. Often the blocks that are carved for the posters are reworked and repurposed for other personal creative projects. All the illustrations are carved by hand using gauge tools, linoleum, wood and a vandercook proofing press. Most of the type is antique wood type from Pioneer House (formerly YeeHaw Industries). Each print is original and most limited to their specific edition.
"Camp Nevernice" is shorthand for making the best of what you have and where you are-- using the skills, cumulative experiences, and tools you have in front of you to make something more beautiful and adventurous. It might not always be perfect, but you can always make it better.
